Chris Cortez (b. 2000) references pop culture and history to form personal Queer Mexican representation through painting, drawing, dressmaking and performance.
Chris received their BFA in Fine Arts from The School of Visual Arts in May 2022. Chris had their work exhibited in the SVA group show In and Out of Time, New York, NY (2021). Chris was selected for the Will Barnett Show at the National Arts Club in February of 2022. They had their Los Angeles debut in Aqux, The Mistake Room (2022)—reimagining ideas and understandings of home. Chris held their first pop-up solo exhibition “En la Tierra como en el Cielo” at West Chelsea Arts Building in October of 2023.
